Colorado Upgraded to Winter Weather Advisory
US · Published Oct 28, 2026
• A winter storm has prompted an upgrade to a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Colorado, as the region experiences moderate impacts from the system.
• According to HRRR analysis, surface temperatures range from 41°F to 65°F (5°C to 18°C) across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming, with near-freezing air pooling in high-elevation areas such as Glenwood Springs and Mountain Village, Colorado, where temperatures are between 30°F and 34°F (-1°C to 1°C).

Impact & Risks

The winter storm is expected to bring moderate impacts to the Central Plains, particularly in Colorado, where the advisory has been issued. High-elevation areas are likely to experience snow, as the atmospheric column remains below freezing in some locations, such as 20 miles WNW of Silver Cliff, Colorado. Strong winds and low wind chills pose risks for frostbite and hypothermia, especially for those exposed to the elements for extended periods. Travel conditions may also be affected in areas experiencing snow and high winds.
