The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an extreme heat warning for the Grand Canyon region, with temperatures in the inner canyon expected to reach as high as 110°F (43°C).
This warning follows a series of heat-related fatalities earlier this month, where three hikers succumbed to heat-related illnesses.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant risks to hikers and visitors, particularly those in the inner canyon below 4,000 feet. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to range from 101°F (38°C) at Havasupai Gardens to 112°F (44°C) at Phantom Ranch. Prolonged outdoor exposure without adequate hydration or cooling measures can lead to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The recent fatalities highlight the life-threatening nature of these conditions, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
