Impact & Risks

The Gulf Coast, particularly areas between southeastern Louisiana and the western Florida Panhandle, will face the brunt of Tropical Storm Isaias. Heavy rainfall of 1–12 inches (25–305 mm) is expected across the southeastern U.S., with localized totals up to 25 inches (635 mm), leading to significant flooding risks. Wind gusts of 100–120 mph (161–193 km/h) near the storm's center could cause widespread damage, while tropical storm-force winds of 40–60 mph (64–97 km/h) may extend into Tennessee. Coastal areas will experience storm surge flooding and dangerous rip currents. Severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes and waterspouts, are possible near and east of the storm's center, with impacts potentially stretching hundreds of miles inland.
