• Kashmir's famous ski resort Gulmarg and several mountain passes, including Zojila, Razdan Pass, and Sinthan Top, have received fresh snowfall, transforming the region into a winter wonderland. Rainfall and gusty winds have also been reported in the plains, including Srinagar, where temperatures have dropped significantly. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast unsettled weather conditions, with more snowfall expected in higher altitudes until October
• Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 20°C, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg registered 14.2°C and 11.8°C, respectively.

Impact & Risks

The snowfall and rain have created challenging conditions for travellers, particularly on mountain routes where fresh snow and wet roads could pose risks. Farmers and fruit growers have been advised to protect their harvested produce from rain and strong winds. Trekkers have been urged to avoid high-altitude expeditions until the weather improves. The tourism sector, however, has seen an uptick in activity as visitors flock to Gulmarg to enjoy the snow-covered scenery.
