IN · Published Aug 12, 2026
• Octillion Power Systems has inaugurated its third manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, to bolster India's electric vehicle (EV) battery production. The plant, spanning over 13,000 square meters, was completed in under eight months and will produce over 48,000 battery systems annually, contributing 3 GWh of energy storage capacity. Combined with its other facilities, Octillion's annual production in India is expected to exceed 150,000 battery systems and 9 GWh of capacity. This expansion supports India's growing EV market, which saw a 43% year-over-year sales increase in the first half of
• The facility also aligns with India's ambitious EV targets for 2030.

Impact & Risks

The new facility strengthens India's EV supply chain and supports the country's electrification goals. It will create jobs and reduce dependency on imports for battery systems. However, challenges such as reliance on imported raw materials like lithium and cobalt, and low localization of high-value components, remain significant hurdles for the industry.
