IMD Predicts Rainfall Across 23 States, Heavy Showers in J&K and Ladakh
IN · Published Oct 13, 2026
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across 23 states and union territories on Tuesday, 13 October
• Heavy showers are expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Moderate rainfall is likely in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Lakshadweep. Light rain is also possible in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds may occur in isolated areas. Delhi-NCR has already experienced overnight showers, leading to cooler temperatures and cloudy skies.

Impact & Risks

The rainfall is expected to bring relief from the October heat in many regions, particularly in Delhi-NCR, where temperatures have dropped noticeably. However, heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands could lead to localised flooding or waterlogging. Thunderstorms and strong winds in isolated areas may pose risks to outdoor activities and infrastructure. In Delhi, waterlogging has already caused traffic disruptions in some areas.
