Heavy Rainfall Recorded Across Multiple States; More Expected

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) in Haryana, Telangana, and West Madhya Pradesh during the past 24 hours ending at 08:30 IST on 14th September
• Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) was also recorded in Konkan, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Assam. The IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall in East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand on 14th September, and in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab between 15th and 17th September. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected in Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha during 14th-15th September.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall has the potential to disrupt daily life in affected areas, including Haryana, Telangana, and West Madhya Pradesh, where very heavy rainfall has already been recorded. Flooding and waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas, while transportation and agricultural activities could face interruptions. Gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, may pose risks to infrastructure and safety in isolated areas.
