Tropical Storm Norbert to Dissipate; Tropical Depression 15-E Likely to Become Odalys
US · Published Sep 14, 2026
Tropical Storm Norbert, currently moving west with sustained winds of 50 mph (10°C), is expected to weaken due to dry air and increasing upper-level wind shear.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) forecasts that Norbert will lose its tropical characteristics and become a post-tropical remnant low by Wednesday before fully dissipating.

Impact & Risks

Tropical Storm Norbert no longer poses a direct threat to Hawaii, though larger swells may impact the southern shores of the islands as the storm dissipates. Tropical Depression 15-E is forecast to intensify into Tropical Storm Odalys but is expected to encounter hostile conditions, including dry air, which may limit its development. Current forecasts suggest neither system will pose a significant threat to land in the next 10 to 14 days. However, the Pacific remains active, and additional tropical systems may develop in the near future.
