• Hawaii is preparing for the arrival of Tropical Depression Fifteen-E, which is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane by the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
• The storm, to be named Nolo once it becomes a tropical storm, is forecast to pass south of the Big Island, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding.

The storm poses significant risks to Hawaii, particularly the Big Island and Maui. Heavy rainfall could lead to life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas with steep terrain. Maui is expected to experience the heaviest rainfall, with up to 20 inches in some areas, while the Big Island may face hurricane-force winds exceeding 74 mph, with isolated gusts reaching 90 mph. The rest of the islands could see moderate rainfall and localized flooding. Residents are urged to prepare for potential property damage, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions.
