Tropical Depression Two-C has formed approximately 815 miles southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, and is moving west-northwest at 14 mph.
The system currently has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm later today, at which point it will be named 'Moke.' The depression is forecasted to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to Hawaii Island and other parts of the state over the weekend.

Impact & Risks

Hawaii Island, already saturated from recent rainfall caused by Hurricane Lala, is at risk of dangerous flooding and mudslides. The expected rainfall could exacerbate existing conditions, particularly in steep terrain. Other islands in the state may also experience localized flooding and hazardous surf conditions. The combination of heavy rain, strong winds, and high surf poses risks to public safety and infrastructure, especially in areas still recovering from previous storms.
