A recent analysis by Yale Climate Connections highlights the growing threat of compound flood events along the U.S. Gulf and Atlantic coasts. These events, caused by a combination of storm surge and excessive rainfall, are expected to become more frequent and severe due to climate change. Factors such as rising sea levels, increased hurricane intensity, and heavier rainfall are driving this trend.
