• Himachal Pradesh has experienced significant impacts during the monsoon season, which lasted from June 30 to September 29,
• The state recorded 652.6 mm of rainfall, an 11% deficit compared to the normal 733.4 mm. Rain-related incidents led to 152 fatalities, including 19 deaths from landslides and flash floods. Other causes of death included falls (62), drowning (17), snake bites (16), electrocution (10), and miscellaneous reasons (28). Light rain was observed in parts of the state, with Rampur receiving 16.8 mm and Khadrala 7.1 mm. As of September 30, 46 roads were closed, and 127 power transformers were disrupted.

Impact & Risks

The monsoon season has caused widespread disruption in Himachal Pradesh, with fatalities and infrastructure damage. Landslides and flash floods have been particularly deadly, claiming 19 lives. Road closures and power outages have affected daily life, with Mandi district reporting the highest number of blocked roads (28). The estimated financial loss to the state stands at ₹3,220 crore, highlighting the severe economic impact of the season.
