IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning for 27 Districts in Telangana
IN · Published Oct 8, 2026
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for Telangana from 20 to 27 September.
• The forecast predicts rainfall measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm across 27 districts, including Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and others.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall is likely to impact both urban and rural areas in Telangana. Urban regions, including Hyderabad, may face disruptions in road traffic, storm-water drainage, and daily travel due to concentrated rainfall over short periods. Low-lying areas are particularly vulnerable to waterlogging. Thunderstorms and squally winds could pose risks to infrastructure and outdoor activities in the affected districts. The IMD has highlighted the need for district administrations and civic authorities to monitor conditions closely during the warning period.
