IN · Published Aug 24, 2026
After weeks of dry weather, Telangana experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Saturday night, with several areas in Hyderabad recording significant showers.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, and Bhupalpally districts.

Impact & Risks

The recent rainfall has brought relief from the prolonged dry spell but also raised concerns about potential health risks. The Telangana Health Department has issued an advisory warning of a possible surge in seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya due to falling temperatures and increased humidity. Residents are advised to take precautions against vector-borne, waterborne, and airborne diseases. Public health facilities have been equipped with special beds, IV fluids, and essential medicines to address any rise in cases.
