• New research from the Met Office reveals that young adults aged 18-24 are the most engaged demographic in responding to weather warnings and advice.
• Following the record-breaking summer heat, 75% of young adults reported taking action based on hot weather forecasts, while 67% checked weather updates more frequently.

Impact & Risks

The study highlights the challenges faced by young adults during extreme heat, including difficulty sleeping, dehydration, and struggles to keep indoor spaces cool. While many took proactive measures such as closing blinds and applying suncream, only 17% feel fully prepared for severe winter weather. This indicates an opportunity to enhance resilience and preparedness among this age group.
