Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra has identified geopolitical tensions in West Asia and a weak monsoon as major risks to India's economic growth and inflation.
Speaking on Friday, Malhotra noted that inflation remains elevated, driven by supply-side factors such as rising crude oil prices and potential disruptions in agricultural output.

Impact & Risks

The ongoing conflict in West Asia, particularly involving Iran, could disrupt global oil supplies, significantly impacting India, which imports nearly 90% of its oil. Additionally, a deficient monsoon could lead to higher food inflation, affecting household budgets and agricultural productivity. These factors could challenge India's economic stability and growth prospects.
