IPL Business Value Surges Over 11% to $20.6 Billion

The Indian Premier League (IPL), the world's richest T-20 cricket competition, has seen its commercial value rise by over 11% this year, reaching $20.6 billion (approximately 283 billion Nepali rupees).
According to the '2026 IPL Brand Valuation Study' by US-based investment bank Houlihan Lokey, this marks the second consecutive year of double-digit growth.

Impact & Risks

The IPL's rising valuation benefits stakeholders, including franchise owners, players, and sponsors, while also boosting India's sports economy. However, the increasing commercialization could lead to higher operational costs and potential over-reliance on sponsorships and broadcasting revenues. Fans may also face higher ticket prices and subscription fees as franchises and broadcasters seek to maximize returns.
