Monsoon Break in Madhya Pradesh; Heavy Rain Expected from 12 September
IN · Published Sep 9, 2026
Madhya Pradesh is currently experiencing a three-day monsoon break, with no heavy rainfall forecast until 11 September.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhopal, a low-pressure system is expected to develop over the west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal on 11 September, which will likely bring heavy rainfall to the state starting 12 September.

Impact & Risks

The rainfall deficit in western Madhya Pradesh has raised concerns about water availability and agricultural productivity. However, the anticipated heavy rainfall from 12 September could alleviate some of these issues. Flood-like conditions have already been reported in parts of the eastern region, which may worsen if heavy rains occur. Urban areas and low-lying regions are particularly vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods.
