Jammu-Srinagar Highway Open for Two-Way Traffic Amid Safety Advisories
IN · Published Nov 5, 2026
• The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) is open for two-way traffic on 5th November 2026, as per the Traffic Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.
• Passenger Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), private cars, Heavy Passenger Vehicles (HPVs), and goods-carrying Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) are permitted to travel in both directions.

Impact & Risks

Motorists face risks from landslides, shooting stones, and construction activities, especially between Ramban and Banihal. Nomadic herds moving towards the Valley may slow traffic further. Heavy Motor Vehicles are advised to avoid overloading and ensure roadworthiness. Restricted movement of oil and gas tankers during daytime hours adds to logistical challenges. Vulnerable zones require caution, particularly during night travel.
