IN · Published Aug 24, 2026
After a brief lull, heavy rains have resumed across Kerala, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a Yellow Alert for eight districts in the state.
The districts under the alert include Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Ernakulam.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rains are likely to disrupt daily life in the affected districts, with risks of waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and potential damage to crops and property. Residents in low-lying areas and those near water bodies are particularly vulnerable to flooding. The authorities have urged caution, especially for those living in landslide-prone regions, as the continuous rainfall could lead to soil erosion and landslides.
