Impact & Risks

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may lead to waterlogging and disruption in daily activities in affected areas, particularly in Odisha, where a yellow alert has been issued for five districts: Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, and Gajapati. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in several other districts, including Balasore, Sonepur, and Kandhamal, posing risks to public safety. In Kolkata, heavy rainfall on Sunday caused waterlogging and disrupted movement in busy market areas. Strong winds in southern states like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh may pose risks to coastal and low-lying areas.
