Kerala Prepares for Monsoon with Paddy Procurement Efforts

Kerala's Agriculture Minister, T.
Siddique, announced the renewal of an agreement with public sector banks to facilitate paddy procurement in the state.

Why It's Important?

The timely completion of paddy procurement is critical to minimizing crop losses during the monsoon season. Delays in issuing PRS or addressing moisture content concerns could negatively impact farmers' income and crop quality. Additionally, unresolved issues related to crop loss compensation since 2021 remain a challenge for the agricultural community. The government's focus on attracting more women to farming could have long-term positive effects on the sector.
