• The Shimla Meteorological Office has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts in Himachal Pradesh.
• Torrential rains have caused significant disruptions, including the closure of 259 roads, 54 water supply schemes, and 161 transformers across the state.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall poses risks of landslides, flash floods, and road blockades, particularly in the affected districts of Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur. The closure of roads and disruption of water and power supply have impacted daily life, with Mandi reporting the highest number of road closures at 120. The landslide on the Mandi-Manali highway has further restricted vehicular movement, affecting connectivity in the region. Residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas are at heightened risk.
