The catastrophic floods in Nepal on 26 August 2026 were described as 'unprecedented' by scientists, who attributed the disaster to climate change and geological factors.
A section of glacier and rock collapsed from Langtang Lirung mountain, releasing 116 million cubic metres of material and triggering a debris flood that travelled 200 km downstream at speeds of up to 188 kmph.
