The Las Vegas Valley is transitioning from recent monsoon activity to a period of extreme heat.
Over the past week, parts of the valley, including eastern neighborhoods and areas near Nellis Air Force Base, experienced scattered thunderstorms, with Harry Reid International Airport recording 0.03 inches of rain on consecutive days.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant risks to residents and visitors in the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding Mojave Desert areas. Prolonged exposure to such high temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Outdoor activities during peak heat hours could become hazardous, and infrastructure, including power grids, may face increased strain. Death Valley, with temperatures potentially exceeding 115°F (46.1°C), will be particularly dangerous for outdoor enthusiasts.
