Flash Flooding Hits Las Vegas Amid Heavy Rainfall

• Residents in and around Las Vegas, Nevada, are experiencing flash flooding due to persistent heavy rainfall on Sunday, 1 November
• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood advisories for northeastern Clark County, southern Mohave County, and other areas in the region. Light-to-moderate rain overnight has caused nuisance flooding, particularly in low-water crossings near the Valley of Fire and other vulnerable areas. The NWS forecasts continued rainfall through Sunday afternoon, with some areas expected to receive between 0.25 and 2 inches of rain. A flood watch remains in effect for parts of southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and southeastern California until late Sunday night. Source time: not specified.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall has led to flooding in low-lying areas, roads, and locations with poor drainage. Excessive runoff has caused rivers, creeks, and streams to overflow, posing risks to residents and travellers. In Henderson, Nevada, a person rescued from a wash went into cardiac arrest and later passed away. Additional rescues were reported near Lake Mead Parkway and North Milan Street. The NWS warns that locally heavy downpours could exacerbate flash flooding risks, particularly in areas like Clark, Lincoln, and Mohave counties.
