A heat dome has settled over the United States, bringing extreme heat warnings and record-breaking temperatures across multiple regions.
According to the Associated Press, areas from the Southwest to the Midwest and Great Plains are experiencing oppressive heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 111°F (43.9°C) in Las Vegas and 104°F (40°C) in Dallas.

Impact & Risks

The heat dome poses significant risks to outdoor workers, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. High temperatures, combined with elevated dew points, are creating dangerous heat indices, making conditions feel even hotter. Nebraska, for example, has already experienced extreme heat with temperatures reaching 108°F (42.2°C). Prolonged exposure to such conditions increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Vulnerable populations are advised to take extra precautions to avoid severe health impacts.
