Clark County Issues Dust Advisory as Arizona Storms Push Particulates North
US · Published Aug 21, 2026
Clark County officials have issued a dust advisory for the Las Vegas Valley due to airborne particulate matter transported from Arizona's monsoon storm activity.
Severe thunderstorms in the Phoenix area on August 19 generated strong winds and a significant dust storm, reducing visibility to less than a quarter-mile in parts of northwestern Pima County.

Impact & Risks

The dust advisory warns of potential health risks from airborne particulate matter, which can aggravate respiratory diseases. Sensitive groups, including children, older adults, and individuals with pre-existing heart or lung conditions, are advised to limit outdoor activities. Visibility issues caused by the dust storm may also pose risks for motorists in affected areas. Residents are encouraged to take precautions to minimize exposure to dust and report excessive blowing dust to local authorities.
