Two moderate-intensity earthquakes struck the Union Territory of Ladakh on Thursday, causing concern among residents.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the first earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.5, occurred at 6:05 AM at a depth of 10 kilometers near Leh.

Impact & Risks

The earthquakes have heightened anxiety among residents in Ladakh, a region already prone to seismic activity. While no immediate damage or injuries were reported, the tremors serve as a reminder of the potential risks to life and infrastructure in the area. The region's remote location and challenging terrain could complicate emergency response efforts in the event of a more severe earthquake.
