US · Published Jul 7, 2026
Los Angeles County is bracing for a significant heat wave this week, with temperatures forecasted to rise 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for non-coastal areas starting Tuesday at 10 a.m., with inland areas, including downtown Los Angeles, under advisory beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Impact & Risks

The heat wave poses risks to vulnerable populations, including older adults and children, as well as those exposed to prolonged outdoor heat. Elevated temperatures increase the likelihood of heat-related illnesses, particularly in areas where highs exceed 100°F (37.8°C). Additionally, gusty sundowner winds in Santa Barbara, with speeds of up to 50 mph, may elevate fire risks in the region. Residents are advised to monitor conditions closely and take precautions to mitigate health and safety risks.
