Heat Advisory Issued for Los Angeles and Orange Counties
US · Published Sep 8, 2026
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for much of Southern California, including Los Angeles and Orange counties.
The advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m.

Impact & Risks

The heat advisory poses significant risks, particularly to vulnerable populations such as older adults, young children, outdoor workers, athletes, and individuals with chronic medical conditions. Heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke, are a concern. Symptoms such as heavy sweating, cramps, dizziness, and confusion should be monitored closely. According to Dr. Muntu Davis, LA County Health Officer, heat causes more deaths annually in the U.S. than floods, storms, and lightning combined.
