Central Illinois is recovering from a series of strong storms that caused widespread power outages and significant damage in several communities.
As of Thursday evening, PowerOutage.com reported approximately 5,400 outages in Macon County, 3,200 in Coles County, 1,700 in Sangamon County, and 600 in Effingham County.

The storms have left thousands without power, with some areas not expected to have electricity restored until late Friday night. Communities like Charleston and Effingham have reported significant damage, including downed trees, roof damage, and flooding.
