Another worker, Jadavi Baluri, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Madikeri.

Impact & Risks

The recurring elephant attacks in Kodagu have created a climate of fear among estate workers, farmers, and rural residents. The loss of human lives, destruction of crops, and threats to livestock have significantly impacted the local community. Labour unions and farmers are demanding immediate government intervention to mitigate the human-wildlife conflict. Failure to address these concerns could lead to further unrest and economic distress in the region.
