Maharashtra Urban Seats Report High Rate of Uncollected Electoral Forms
IN · Published Aug 22, 2026
Urban constituencies in Maharashtra, including Thane, Pune, and Mumbai, have reported the highest rates of uncollected enumeration forms during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer on August 21, over 21% of forms statewide were not collected or digitized.

Impact & Risks

The high rate of uncollected forms in urban areas could lead to inaccuracies in the electoral rolls, potentially disenfranchising eligible voters. This discrepancy between urban and rural areas may also indicate systemic issues in the enumeration process, such as logistical challenges or lack of public awareness in densely populated urban regions.
