Low-pressure system to bring heavy rain across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh

A low-pressure area over south Chhattisgarh and its surrounding regions is expected to move west-northwestwards across Vidarbha within the next 24 hours, according to APSDMA MD Prakhar Jain. This system is likely to cause moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated locations in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, 13th September
Districts such as Manyam, Polavaram, ASR, and Eluru are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Additionally, moderate rainfall is anticipated in Anakapalle, East Godavari, West Godavari, NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, and Palnadu districts. Light rain is also expected at isolated places in Rayalaseema. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued advisories for residents and fishermen in the affected areas.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging, disruption of daily activities, and potential damage to property in the affected districts. Thunderstorms may pose risks such as falling trees and damage to hoardings. Fishermen venturing into the sea are at risk due to rough sea conditions. The Home Minister, V Anita, has instructed officials to implement measures to prevent loss of life and property. Organisers of Ganesh pandals have been urged to take precautions during the ongoing Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations to ensure public safety.
