King Tides Bring Major Flooding to Southeast Coast
US · Published Oct 26, 2026
• The Southeast coast is bracing for significant coastal flooding over the next 48 hours due to peak fall King Tides combined with persistent northeasterly winds.
• According to the FOX Forecast Center, water levels have already risen more than 2 feet above normally dry ground for five consecutive days, and this trend is expected to continue.

Impact & Risks

The King Tides and associated coastal flooding pose significant risks to low-lying areas, including roads, neighborhoods, and waterfront infrastructure. Charleston Harbor may see water levels exceeding 2 feet, potentially flooding downtown streets and making roads impassable during high tide. In South Florida, saltwater could back up through storm drains, flooding streets in Miami Beach, Brickell, Fort Lauderdale, and the Florida Keys. Heavy rainfall, with totals exceeding 2 inches and downpours producing over 1 inch per hour, could worsen urban flooding, especially if it coincides with peak tides. Dangerous rip currents and hazardous surf conditions are also expected along the Southeast coast.
