• Hurricane Isaias, the first Atlantic hurricane of the season, is forecast to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast between late Friday and early Saturday.
• The storm, currently a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 mph, is expected to strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane before landfall.

Impact & Risks

The storm poses significant risks to approximately 30 million residents across Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. Flash flooding is a major concern, with a Level 3 out of 4 flash flood risk issued for Mobile, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle west of Panama City. Coastal areas may experience storm surges of 5 to 7 feet, leading to flooding in normally dry areas. Tornadoes are also possible in the storm's outer bands. Evacuation orders have been issued for parts of Alabama and Florida, and states of emergency have been declared in Alabama and Florida.
