Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall on 13th September 2026, following a prolonged dry spell since July.
The western suburbs recorded the highest average rainfall among the city's three regions, with 59.86 mm of rain between 8 am and 6 pm.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall brought relief to Mumbai after a prolonged dry spell but also posed risks of waterlogging and localised flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. The IMD has issued warnings for potential thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds, which could disrupt daily activities and pose safety risks. Residents in the western suburbs, which recorded the highest rainfall, are particularly advised to remain cautious.
