The World Gold Council (WGC) has unveiled a 21-year plan, 'Swarnim Udaan,' to enhance India's gold ecosystem.
The plan aims to increase domestic gold mining to meet 10-20% of the country's demand and position India as a global leader in gold jewellery manufacturing.

Impact & Risks

The plan could significantly reduce India's reliance on gold imports, saving foreign exchange and stabilizing the economy against global price volatility. It also aims to create jobs and boost innovation in sectors like electronics and healthcare. However, challenges include the need for substantial investment in mining and recycling infrastructure, as well as regulatory hurdles.
