• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert (Watch - Be Aware) for heatwave conditions across several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Raigad, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Sholapur. This alert follows the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Mumbai on 3 October
• On Friday, 9 October 2026, temperatures in Mumbai surged, with Santacruz recording 37.6°C, which is 4.5°C above normal. Dry and hot weather is expected to persist in the region, with isolated heatwave conditions in Raigad and other districts. The IMD anticipates normalisation of conditions by Sunday, 11 October 2026, with green warnings indicating no adverse weather action required.
