The Central Flood Control Cell of the Water Resources Department (WRD) in Patna has released updated water level data for major rivers in Bihar as of 19 September 2026, 8:00 AM.
The report includes measurements from 31 stations across the state, highlighting changes in water levels for rivers such as the Ganga, Ghaghra, Kamalabalan, and Kamla.

Impact & Risks

The fluctuating water levels in Bihar's rivers may impact communities living near riverbanks, particularly in districts such as Munger, Siwan, Madhubani, Patna, and Bhagalpur. While some stations show decreasing levels, others indicate slight increases, which could lead to localised flooding or waterlogging. Residents in low-lying areas should remain vigilant, especially in regions where water levels are rising. Agricultural activities and transportation near riverbanks may also face disruptions due to these changes.
