US · Published Aug 19, 2026
The Pacific Ocean is seeing increased hurricane activity just days after Hurricane Lala caused significant damage in Hawaii.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), two new tropical disturbances are showing signs of development.

Impact & Risks

The two new tropical disturbances currently pose no immediate threat to land but are being closely monitored due to their high development probabilities. The system near Hawaii could bring additional weather challenges to the region, which is still recovering from Hurricane Lala. Lala caused severe flooding, mudslides, and infrastructure damage, leaving over 100 homes damaged or destroyed and tens of thousands without power. The storm has been linked to at least one fatality. Communities in Hawaii, particularly Naalehu, Pahala, and Waiohinu, face prolonged recovery efforts, with significant cleanup and repair work required.
