The floods have devastated infrastructure, sweeping away roads, bridges, and buildings. Around 40 km of roads and 18 bridges in Nepal have been destroyed. Thousands of people, including Indian tourists, trekkers, and pilgrims, remain unaccounted for. The death toll is expected to rise as many travellers were not officially recorded. The disaster has also disrupted transport and hydropower projects in the region. Both Nepal and Tibet are facing significant challenges in rescue and recovery operations, with limited preparedness for a disaster of this scale.
