The floods have severely impacted rural communities, particularly those dependent on agriculture and livestock for their livelihoods. The loss of over 1 million livestock has disrupted food security and economic stability for many families. Additionally, the inundation of nearly 40% of Assam has led to displacement, destruction of homes, and loss of essential infrastructure. The strong currents and rising water levels have posed significant risks to human life, as evidenced by the tragic loss of 106 lives. Vulnerable populations, including non-swimmers and those in low-lying areas, remain at heightened risk during such events.
