• The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2026, a World Athletics Gold Label race, is set to take place in New Delhi on 9th October
• The event, now in its 21st edition, will feature a half marathon starting at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium and an Open 10K event beginning at Sansad Marg. The weather during this time of year is typically dry, with little to no rain expected. However, participants should be prepared for high humidity levels in the early morning and rising temperatures as the sun comes up. The half marathon will start at 5:30 AM, while the Open 10K will commence at 7:30 AM, about an hour after sunrise. The course includes iconic landmarks such as India Gate, Kartavya Path, and Rashtrapati Bhavan, offering scenic views for participants.

Impact & Risks

The primary weather-related concern for participants is the high humidity during the early morning hours, which could lead to dehydration. Additionally, runners taking more than two hours to complete the half marathon or participating in the Open 10K may experience rising temperatures as the sun intensifies. These conditions could pose challenges, particularly for less experienced runners. The narrow approach road near Lodhi Road may also cause congestion, potentially slowing down participants in the final stretch of the race.
