The government has allocated ₹62,500 crore for the scheme, which will run from FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-
The initiative includes incentives ranging from 2.25% to 5%, with additional benefits for domestic sourcing and Indian design. Apple is also expected to expand its manufacturing in India beyond iPhones.

Impact & Risks

The MPMS is expected to significantly boost India's mobile manufacturing sector, creating jobs and increasing domestic value addition. It aims to reduce dependency on imports and enhance India's position in the global electronics market. However, the scheme's success depends on effective implementation and the ability of Indian brands to compete with established global players. Challenges such as supply chain disruptions and competition from international brands could pose risks.
