The heavy rainfall and flash flooding pose risks to communities in western and northern New Mexico, as well as southwest Colorado. Areas along the Rio Grande Valley, including Albuquerque, may experience flooding due to prolonged heavy rain, especially in regions that have already seen significant rainfall this season. The San Juan Mountains and other elevated areas are particularly vulnerable to higher rainfall amounts. Strong thunderstorms could also result in localised damage from wind gusts, hail, and isolated tornadoes. Flooding may persist even after the heaviest rain subsides, and colder air could bring snow to northern mountains above 10,000 feet.
