A recent report highlights the alarming acceleration of climate-related disasters due to global warming.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels is no longer realistic.

Impact & Risks

The report warns of severe impacts on vulnerable regions, including low-lying islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans that may become uninhabitable. Food production could decline by up to 14% in certain areas, exacerbating global hunger. Extreme heatwaves, once rare, are now expected to occur every 10–20 years. North America faces increased wildfire risks (1.8x), while Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia are particularly vulnerable to heatwaves and droughts. These changes threaten social stability, economic growth, and public health worldwide.
