• A powerful nor’easter, designated as Invest 93L by the National Hurricane Center, is spinning off the North Carolina coast.
• The storm is expected to bring coastal flooding, beach erosion, gusty winds, dangerous surf, and rip currents to the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast coasts through Thursday.

Impact & Risks

The storm poses significant risks to coastal areas, including high tide flooding, beach erosion, and destructive waves. Wind gusts exceeding 40 mph are expected, particularly in the Outer Banks region, where parts of North Carolina Highway 12 are already closed due to flooding. The worst impacts are anticipated in the Outer Banks, Chesapeake Bay, and Ocean City, Maryland, with water levels potentially rising over two feet above normal during high tide. The storm could exacerbate ongoing coastal erosion issues in vulnerable areas.
