Over 100 homes and eight bridges were damaged on the Big Island, which also experienced over 25 inches of rain, leading to landslides and debris accumulation.

Impact & Risks

The storm has severely impacted rural areas of the Big Island, where transmission lines are down, leaving many without power for an extended period. Flooding has damaged homes and infrastructure, particularly in southern regions like Kaʻū and Puna. Emergency rescues have been conducted in areas cut off by rising waters, with fatalities and injuries reported. On Oʻahu, debris and non-functioning traffic lights have made travel hazardous. The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for Kauaʻi and flood watches for Oʻahu, with swollen streams and rivers posing ongoing risks. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain vigilant during cleanup efforts.
